A pregnant student writing the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) shocked school authorities and WAEC Officials When She Went Into Labor During IT Exams.

As the BECE begins on Wednesday 11th June, 2025, 21 pregnant students were recorded throughout the country. During the second paper of the day which was Computing, a pregnant student from the Asenua Presbyterian Junior High Examination Centre in Mamponteng, in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

According to eyewitnesses, the student had excused herself to use the washroom during the exam. A police woman assigned to the center noticed something unusual and decided to follow up only to find the student in active labor. She was quickly moved to the headmasters office and within moments she delivered her baby right there.

The situation drew swift support from the local community. The pastor of the Asenua Presbyterian Church who was nearby when the shocking incident occurred transported the mother and the new born to the Victory Hospital in Mampongten.

This act by some was seen as being heroic but others also stigmatize her because of her age saying the act shouldnt be celebrated since it might send the wrong message to the coming generation about abstenace. what do you think of this? Lets get interactive.
